Grammys 2011 Fashion Wrap Up
Let music ring! Music’s biggest stars all showed up to play last night at the Grammy’s and we all were taking note of their voices and fashions. Here is the lowdown on who showed up looking the best and the worst.
Rihanna as usual made heads turn and guy’s eyes go up and down. The sexy singer took everyone’s breath away in a daring, sheer-paneled Jean Paul Gaultier gown. Willa Smith was all smiles and was ready to whip her hair. However, the very trendy ten-year-old wasn’t as fashion forward as we are used to seeing her. Willa’s look was a little too eccentric for my taste.
Super skinny, Jenny Craig spokeswoman Jennifer Hudson looked absolutely stunning in blue. Jennifer
walked the carpet in a Versace frock, Neil Lane cuff, and strappy Louboutins. Esperanza Spalding took home Best New Artist so congratulations! The award winning star wore chartreuse, but I really wasn’t feeling the dress with the pink shoes.
How can we talk fashion and not get the guys involved? Lenny Kravitz showed up looking like…well, Lenny Kravitz. Fur and leather, Lenny you still look hot at 46! However, next time please uncuff the pants.
I guess if I worked out as much as R&B singer Ciara I would want to flaunt my body as well. Ciara kept her ‘promise’ and made all jaws drop. The simply hot singer left
little to the imagination in a scandalous cut-out dress, which featured a thigh-high slit. I loved her long simp
le hair and girl give me those shoes!
Unfortunately, Amber Riley wore a dress that didn’t really suit her. I am the kind of person who loves dresses with some design or pattern on them. However, Amber’s dress looked like someone or something was growing on her and I still don’t understand the shoulder piece.
Diddy was one of the guys of the night that I just didn’t get. Diddy showed up looking like it is 1981 not 2011. The rapper needs to go buy a tie and a suit stat. Usher
wasn’t much better. Usher looked homeless and like he stole somebody else’s shoes and had gone running with them down the street to put them on. What were the men thinking last night! Whatever they were on I don’t want any! Head to toe Usher was a mess.
Singer Monica was another singer caught in a bad dress. Looking like she ready for a funeral Monica had on a structured black dress. It was too long and the shoulders are played out. From the neck up I thought Monica had it going on, I love short hair. However, from the neck down it was an epic fail.
Had her hair been properly cut and processed, Keri Hilson would have easily earned a Best Dressed nomination from stylists the world over. Keri looked the part thanks to her flirty Basil Soda mini and glittering Jimmy Choo sandals. Unfortunately, the hair killed it and she’ll have to settle for just looking respectable.
Janelle Monae at least stuck to what she knows. She showed up with her hair in her signature pompadour. She looked simple in classic in a tailored suit by Ralph Lauren. Jada Pinkett Smith obviously spent more time on herself then her daughter because she looked on point. I loved the natural fro she was rocking and she kept the style going by wearing a 70’s inspired frock by Amanda Wakeley. Her skin also looked completely flawless from head to toe. Jada worked it her skin was just glowing.
Lastly, but thanks to her powerful voice she is definitely not least. Toni Braxton strutted the red carpet in an outfit made by a local fashion student. Just kidding I don’t know who or what she was wearing but it looked off the rack and poorly made. To the celebrities who tried and failed this year, better luck next year. To the celebs who got it right thank you for consulting a stylist!
