Ballet Flats
Ballet flats have become a staple for many women over the years. Before, you would die at the thought of putting flats on knowing you should probably put on some sort of heel or pump to make your outfit look stunning. But over the years that notion of only wearing high heels as went out the window as well as all those sky high heels. Now don’t get me wrong I still like my pumps but you get tired of your feet hurting day in and day out, so ballet flats have been a great alternative for me.
How did this whole ballet flats phenomenon get started? Well ballet flats have existed since at least the 16th century. Then in the 17th and 18th centuries high-heeled shoe came into fashion after Catherine de’ Medici requested that her cobbler add two inches to her wedding shoes. However heels went out of fashion quickly after Marie Antoinette walked to the guillotine in a pair of heels. I guess that would put a damper on things. Over the years ballet flats did start resurfacing again but ballet flats really took off again when Audrey Hepburn wore them with skinny jeans in Funny Face in 1957.
Today ballet flats are popular with every age group. Ballet Flats can be worn with everything from skinny jeans, skirts and dresses and shorts. With the ballet flat you can slip them on and take care of all those weekend errands and running around town to appointments. Plus an added benefit is that if you suffer from back pain these stylish little flats can be your answer to looking chic and feel pain free from lower back discomfort.
